Weekend Services Sundays
The Sunday morning services follow a traditional order of service with liturgy, scripture, sermon, hymns and Holy Communion. The
Chancel Choir usually sings at the 9:00 AM service, except the first Sunday of each month, when they sing at the 11:00 AM service.
A staffed nursery is provided from 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM on Sundays. Coffee and fellowship take place between the two services.
Special services are held for specific holidays and seasons. Evening Services at St. John usually take place at 7:00 PM.
During the seasons of Advent and Lent, mid-week evening services are offered to help prepare for the coming season. Details will be
posted on the Home Page during these seasons.
Maundy Thursday is the Thursday before Easter and commemorates the Last Supper when Jesus shared the Passover meal with His
disciples on the night before He was crucified. The Maundy Thursday service follows the traditional liturgy and includes Holy
Good Friday Good Friday is observed on the Friday before Easter Sunday. On this day we commemorate the suffering and death on the cross of our
Lord, Jesus Christ. This is a solemn service that ends in darkness and silence.
This service is held the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and gives us an opportunity to thank God for the many blessings we have
We celebrate the birth of Christ with the carols, the Christmas story, Holy Communion and “Silent Night” by
candlelight. Usually there are two services, one early and one late, to accommodate most families’ needs. Check the home page for

Unity Service with St. Gerald
Since 1985, St. John has shared an annual “Unity Service” with St. Gerald Catholic Church in Farmington Hills. This service usually takes
place in January or February and the location alternates each year between St. Gerald and St. John.
