Her responsibilities at St. John are to: develop and coordinate an effective outreach and service ministry; educate, inform and offer theological/faith perspective to congregation about community issues; work effectively across cultural, theological and economic boundaries, cherishing and encouraging diversity; lead the effort to develop a program to effectively reach more young adults; respond to every first time visitor who signs in with 24-48 hours and follow up with visitors to insure they return for a second visit; manage advertising and media outlet relationships. As leader of the Glorify Team and worship team, he collaborates with the pastors and other lay members of the congregation to design and implement inspiring and invigorating worship throughout the church year. He is also the Assistant Principal at Clarenceville High School, a position he has held since 2007. Troy lives in Farmington with his wife, Kari, and three children, Haley, Hannah, and Ryan, where he enjoys making music and rooting for the Tigers with his family! Christian Matijas-Mecca - Organist/Choir Accompanist
A native of Los Angeles, Christian has played at St. John since summer 2013 and formally joined the music staff in December 2013. Learn more.
Prior to St. John’s, he served as substitute musician for various congregations in Wayne, Washtenaw, and Oakland counties. He is an Associate Professor of Dance and Music at the University of Michigan, was on the faculty at Interlochen Arts Academy from 1991-98, and served as musical director for First Congregational Church, Frankfort MI. JoAnn started at St John as a VBS student in the summer of 1959. Learn more.
She was baptized at St John by Interim Pastor Pertner, in March, 1960 and confirmed by Pastor Fox in May, 1961, one of 7 in his first class at St John. She sang in Junior Choir with Don Otto, then began singing in Senior/Chancel choir in 10th grade, with Marie Walck. JoAnn was Children's music director 1993 to 2000, and 2004 to 2009. She has been a member of the Chancel Bells, Ensemble, Joyful Belles, and solo handbell ringer from 1987 to present. Marjorie arrived at St. John since February 1, 2014 as a licensed lay ministry intern and has since completed her training and has become a Licensed Lay Minister. Prior to St. John her home church was Antioch in Farmington Hills. Learn more.
Marge has served as lay assisting minister, communion assistant, reader, VBS teacher, choir singer, handbell choir ringer, reader’s theater and altar guild. Marge works for Michigan Institute for Neurological Disorders in Farmington Hills full time as Telecommunications Coordinator in addition to assisting in MRI and Imaging transcription. Ashleigh Altemann - Director of Youth and Family Ministries
Ashleigh grew up in Rochester Hills and graduated from the College for Creative Studies in 2009 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography. Learn more.
After school she moved to the small town of Pontiac. When she's not at St. John, Ashleigh can be found at her other job (managing a website selling Corvette parts), working in her community, or working on her plans to open a food truck. She likes to make and grow things and go on adventures. This spring she will be expanding her gardening endeavors to a few community gardens with a group of people through the Pontiac Sun Time Bank.
